Meet Peggy June.
Peggy June is very much like me, except she’s much younger. She’s 35, married, with two children. She works part-time, but her main focus is on her family, especially her children.
COVID, especially the governmental and the pharmaceutical industry’s responses to COVID, alarmed her. She has always tried to keep her family healthy. Before COVID, she never really paid attention to the immunizations she allowed her children to receive. She trusted her doctors. She trusted their prescriptions and their care. But then COVID hit, and the more the government tried to shut things down, the more questions she asked, and the fewer doctors she trusted. In fact, because of her doctor’s responses to her concerns, she changed doctors.
But her research left her feeling helpless. Modern medicine seemed to be acting more like a cartel, making sure people followed their rules, not allowing any dissension. Certainly not allowing any questions.
As a result of her research, she refused any COVID injections. She refused to allow her children to be exposed to what she had begun to consider a poison. Her husband supported her. Her church supported her.
During the lockdown, her church remained open. She began to take her relationship with the Lord more seriously. She’s now beginning a closer walk with God, knowing He has the answers to her issues, but is not quite sure how to listen to Him. A few Scriptures keep coming to mind. “No weapon formed against you shall prosper,” and “In this world you will have trouble. But cheer up! I’ve overcome the world.” How do those words apply to her right now? She want’s to learn more about that.
Now she’s seeing a resurgence in the pushing of the COVID vaccine. Her local grocery store, which has a pharmacy inside, began promoting the COVID shot, not just on a notice beside the pharmacy as in previous years, but actually on the store’s loudspeaker. One of the articles she read claimed that this year there would be another outbreak of COVID. An outbreak? Of a man-made virus? This really alarms her.
But she is only one person. What can one person do? She’s very concerned for her children, and sometimes feels like she’s running out of time to find solutions.
She loves to garden, but she’s kind of a novice and would like to learn more. She grows a portion of her family’s fresh produce, even producing enough to can a few vegetables. Because of her alarm, she’s considering growing herbs, but she doesn’t know where to start. She does believe, however, she must do something, starting this coming spring.
She has also looked into learning certain preparedness skills. Canning and drying foods were her first attempts at learning to become more self-sufficient. But she’d like to learn more. Could she make her own soap, for example? Although, with children in the home, using lye, an extremely caustic and dangerous chemical, has convinced her to back off for now. But maybe there are some other things she can do, such as make her own laundry detergent. Is that possible? Could she also make her own fertilizer for her garden? Or possibly grow (she knows this sounds silly) her own potting soil?
But she has no idea where to turn for her questions.
Until she came across a website: The Mama Prepper Channel. A blog and podcast site that she began to find very interesting.
